Staffing Up for 2017
Have you started advertising to staff up for the summer?
For as long as I can remember, marinas and boat yards of all kinds, all across Canada, have needed more hands on deck when the warm weather arrives.
Boating Industry Canada News Week has posted your marine industry job ads as a courtesy for over a decade - there is no charge. (See the listings and directions at the bottom of this newsletter.)
In my speech at the NMMA Canada Industry Breakfast at TIBS this year, I showed a Canadian population graph that clearly showed we are facing a serious decline in the number of young people in Canada who are under age 20. Those are the people you need to work in the store, man the gas pumps and to be those strong backs that every marina needs to get things done.
From age 20 to 60, Canada's population by year is around 500k. But, the Statistics Canada census numbers are clear - the number of 20 year olds will drop by 20% over the next 5 years.
Better get your ads ready and out there fast, and be prepared to pay more than minimum wage or pump the gas yourself!
