INTRODUCING NEW CANADIANS TO BOATING

The boating industry has been talking about ways to bring new people into boating for many years and the Discover Boating program has probably been the single most significant response from the industry so far. We have seen success, but there is far more to do and in particular, we have needed ways to reach new Canadians.

This past week, the Lifesaving Society, Canada's leading organization responsible for drowning prevention, launched an online boating safety program that has been funded through the National Search and Rescue Secretariat, part of Public Safety of Canada.

I've seen the site. This online resource is a clear, concise and comforting way for non-boaters to learn the basics in boating safety and how to go boating - and the program is offered up in French and English as well as Mandarin and Cantonese while Hindi and Tagalog versions will be added at the beginning of August.

We really applaud this new initiative and hope it will bring large numbers of non-boaters into boating, safely and with the confidence to become enthusiasts. See the story below and take a minute to check out the website - very impressive!
