MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM
No - not Shakespeare - the lake…the dream of a midsummer night's cruise on the lake. What could be better? Lights sparkling across the water, the temperature so warm that the breeze is delightfully refreshing, and the boat just seems to glide along. I remember so many nights like that but there could never be too many.
Memories like this keep your customers coming back season after season.
Then, at a recent boat show, a sales person from one of the big marinas in Ontario threw cold water on my midsummer night's cruising dream. He told me that there were fewer fuel sales outlets on the lake this year, and that their marina was the only one open past 6pm!
Water skiing after dinner when the lake is flat calm is another precious memory, but you don't go out without fuel. You certainly don't do an evening cruise unless you remembered to top up the tank. Really? Six PM?
Are you open in the evenings? Are there marinas in your area that at least keep the fuel dock open till 8?
Is this an important issue? It seems to me that in an already short season, closing early reduces more than just fuel sales. It reduces hours on the boat, therefore it reduces wear and tear and repairs. Most importantly, I think it cuts into those midsummer night's cruising dreams.

PENNIES FROM HEAVEN
Pennies from heaven is a nice idea, but what if it was more than just pennies? What if your marina could generate several hundred, or even a thousand dollars a month extra, without any effort on your part?
