FRIDAY HARBOR IS OPENING SOON AND RE-WRITING THE RULES ABOUT CANADIAN MARINAS

I've just returned from my first in-person visit to the Friday Harbour Resort development at Big Bay Point on Lake Simcoe and I was simply overwhelmed by the scope of this development. It's a hive of activity!

Beautiful docks are being installed right now and already, there's plenty of room for boaters to come in and visit. Water depths are suitable for pretty much any Lake Simcoe-size power boat and keel boats drawing 6 feet or more can come safely into the harbour. Crews are working feverishly to have much of this up and running for the start of the season next week.

This will be North America's largest inland marina; a 40-acre marina unlike anything Lake Simcoe has ever seen before.

The beautifully designed Harbour Master building is now open and it's stocked with a thoughtful range of bathing suits and apparel, sunglasses, PFD's, standup paddle boards as well as snacks and refreshments.

Having grown up on Lake Simcoe in that area, I believe the cottagers will be quick to realize that Friday Harbour is a great boating destination.

The Boardwalk area is nearing completion and there will be a Starbucks that you can drive your boat to, a fine food grocery store and two fine dining restaurants; Fishbone Kitchen and Bar, and Avenue Cibi e vini.

The Pride Marine Group will be operating a full-service marina and boat sales here and Craig Cernak is already on site every day running this part of the business. Fuel docks are in and open already. Many more services such as boat rentals are planned to open soon.

We'll be talking more about this place in the near future because Friday Harbour is nothing less than exceptional. This place can change Lake Simcoe boating in a big way!
