Well Worth Supporting Our Marine Trade Associations
My hat is off to Rick Layzell at Boating Ontario Association for the major accomplishment of working with TIAO and the MTO to get a "one plate solution" for the long-standing and very expensive problem of trailer licensing and towing with marina commercial trucks. This problem has cost Ontario marinas, dealers and service companies money and lost time for decades.
This is the kind of accomplishment that really takes the critical mass and collective influence of the marine trades association and their membership to make it onto a government agenda and to get laws or regulations changed.
Boating Ontario is just finishing up holding their Regional Meetings across the province and those meetings are an opportunity for people in the industry to speak up about issues like this trailer license problem. The meetings are interesting to attend and it's a unique networking opportunity as well as a chance to voice your concerns. When people speak up, our marine trade associations will listen and act for everyone's benefit.
Another example is that NMMA Canada and all the marine trades associations continue to keep the pressure on the Federal Government to drop the 10% retaliatory tariffs hitting U.S. boats coming into Canada. It is another example of the associations going to bat collectively to help our industry.
I hope you agree that is well worth supporting our marine trades associations. With strong support they will be ready to go to work on future issues that are sure to arise.
