MESSAGE FROM THE EDITOR
Distinguish dreams from reality, but remain on the lookout
It seems that to succeed in our industry having a mentor is now a must. Mentors are always there to help and advise us, they can be reached anywhere, any time, they introduce us to important and influential people, and always put a good word for us when opportunities arise. Sound familiar? Indeed, this model sounds as much like a child-parent relationship as an intergenerational collaboration. It's better to recognize leaders and avoid disappointment based on unrealistic expectations; the same goes for new players arriving on the scene. Good reading!

Opinion
Leaders vs. Followers

What initially attracted me to EFC was the number of great industry leaders that were involved with the association (Doug Baldwin, Michael Kenny, Dick Waterman and Harald Henze, to name a few). I wanted to be like them; they always had time for others and were supportive of the electrical industry. These leaders encouraged me to get involved in EFC and make my own contribution...

Looking Back
Promoting the Electrical Distributor Industry — 1974
The lack of a strong public image had been an ongoing concern for the association, and at the January Board meeting the problem was again addressed. They discussed at length the need for promoting the electrical distribution industry to both electrical manufacturers and consumers alike, deciding that a long-range program should be launched to create a more visible public image for electrical distributors. The committee recommended to the Board that CEDA allocate $25,000 per year for three years to…
