The planning season is here, and so is big data

Balance sheets for the first quarter have been presented and planning for next year has already begun. You don't hear the maxim "Time is money" much anymore. We've turned to technology, and growth now depends beyond doubt on data. Cities and businesses are installing data-collecting smart systems that help them better understand how resources are being used and how to create growth. It's a trend in our industry, as are new markets and segments, alliances and partnerships. Good reading!

The Future of the Electrical Channel Is in the Clouds

By Rick McCarten
Rick Mc Carten "What is the future of the electrical channel?" This question was addressed by one of the lead speakers at this year's EFC Conference this past June. His reply stated: "the future is already here… it's just not evenly distributed." Think about it. We have humans flying around the world dozens of times a year, speaking several languages, surrounded by controlled environments and eating perfectly grown organic meat and vegetables. Contrast that with the rest of humanity. The same principle could be applied to the electrical channel. Read More

Industrial LED Lighting… An Opportunity?

By David Gordon
David Gordon 2016 has been a challenging year for many industrially oriented electrical distributors. Between the decline and ripple effects of oil and gas markets, the stagnating agricultural equipment market and economic growth being "driven" by the services / technology markets rather than equipment and consumables, the market for industrial electrical equipment is challenged. One product category bucking the trend in the industrial space is lighting. Read More
