Message From The Editor
Re-read about these inspiring and passionate people who have marked the past year
This year we've met exciting and passionate leaders in our industry. Some have retired, others are starting their careers. They all generously agreed to share with us their industry knowledge and expertise. I want to thank them once again for having put aside a few moments of their busy professional life to talk with us about their passions and journeys. We will of course continue these discussions throughout the year ahead. On behalf of our entire team, I wish you a safe and prosperous year full of interesting new challenges. Good reading!

Quiet Strength: Two Words that Best Describe John Sencich
By Line Goyette
I've known John Sencich since CEW began publishing. He agreed from the outset to be part of the newsletter's Editorial Board. His contribution was regular and sustained. Always present to answer my technical questions, and refer me to the right person for additional information as needed. Always available despite his role as senior leader of an influential company. I asked him before he retired to give us his thoughts on the industry and the direction in which we are heading.

Susan Uthayakumar, President of Schneider Electric Canada: Driving Success
By Owen Hurst
First and foremost, sitting down with Susan Uthayakumar feels more like sitting down and conversing with a friend than conducting an interview with the Canadian president of one of world's largest electrical manufacturers. Of course, she exudes the confidence and knowledge her position demands, but equally identifiable are an open and engaging nature. In a recent sit-down, we learned a little about Susan's history and what drives her to succeed.

Kim Quelch — an Immense Desire to Share Passion and Knowledge
By Line Goyette
A few weeks ago Kim Quelch, National President of Electro-Federation Canada's Young Professionals Network, invited her male and female colleagues to share and publicize their expertise among all members of the industry. Like many, she arrived by chance in the industry. After graduating from university with a Bachelor of Commerce and a speciality in marketing, she began her career in a packaging and software company. "The part of the software industry I was in was predominantly male and I didn't feel the support of senior management to facilitate our integration. In addition, I found that the size of the business limited the professional challenges ahead of me." Informed of an opportunity at Standard, she had a first interview and knew she had found the place and the industry where she would make a career.

Rising Through The Ranks
By Raycroft Darren
When WESCO Canada's Nelson Squires was a relatively unknown sales rep, he took a bold step that would alter the course of his career. "I knew there was no straight path to getting ahead in business, so I decided to lobby hard to be a global account manager," Nelson says. "I went in there and said, 'If I don't work out, just fire me.'"

Present and Engaged: Rittal Systems Ltd.'s President Tim Rourke
By Owen Hurst
CEW's sister publication Panel Builder & Systems Integrator was recently invited to Rittal System Ltd.'s head office in Mississauga, Ontario to tour their operation and have a sit-down with President Tim Rourke. Tim himself guided us through the facility, focusing on productivity and asset management. This focus is perhaps best expressed by the corporate philosophy, "We enjoy satisfying customers' wishes and challenges with innovative solutions." Applying this philosophy to Rittal's day-to-day operations helped the company earn E.B. Horsman & Son's Supplier of the Year award. After the tour I asked Tim about his career and position at Rittal Systems Ltd.

Andrew MacLeod is a Territory Sales Manager with Leviton Manufacturing of Canada in British Columbia. He has a lot of passion for sales and working with a diverse range of individuals which is likely the result of the path he took to get to the position he now holds.
