Message From The Editor
It's Actually NOT So Hard Being Green
Inadvertently this issue of CY Onboard seems to be a Green issue. The Globe and Mail Innovation Awards recognize the efforts of Canadians who make a difference and there are a couple of really inspiring boating products that have made the cut. Last week the boating community lost a cherished member when Andre Lamothe of Naden Boats passed away. Andre himself was a green innovator, always reviewing and adapting his process of creating Naden boats with the goal being little or no impact on the surrounding environmnent. We could all take a moment to remember Andre and to appreciate the respect for our land and waters that thoughtful manufacturing delivers.

Henry Machum from the Royal Nova Scotia Yacht Squadron captured the Laser Atlantic Coast Championships in late August at the regatta held in Maine. Also placing well at the Championships were Luke Ruitenberg in 4th place and Sandy Beatty in 5th.

And The Pink Boat Tour Rides Until October 5th
The PINK Boat Tour, was created by Andre Lamothe in March 2013 as a way of marketing Naden Boats while supporting the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation. Because each Naden Boat is individually painted with an electrostatic process, Andre was able to paint one single 14' Naden Fisherman - hot PINK. He packaged it together with a 15hp Tohatsu outboard and Yacht Club trailer and along with theOntario Naden Boat Dealers took it on the road.

Newport International Boat Show Announces Edson Awards For Excellence In Portraying Company Image
Newport Exhibition Group, owners and producers of the Newport International Boat Show, announced today the results of this year's Edson Awards for Excellence in Portraying Company Image. Presented by Will Keene, president of Edson International, and given to companies whose display and employees exemplify pride and professionalism, the awards were presented to four category winners who each received a $1,000 credit toward their 2015 show contract costs from the show producers. Edson also awarded a Star of the Show plaque to an overall winner.

German Kayakers Reach Bering Sea From Hay River, N.W.T.
Four months after shoving off in their kayaks from Hay River, N.W.T., high school buddies Jan Kruger and Janosch Hagen have reached the Bering Sea in Alaska. The pair travelled about 4,500 kilometres on a journey that took them across Great Slave Lake, down the Mackenzie River to Tsiigehtchic, over a 160-kilometre portage through the Richardson Mountain pass and on to the Yukon River.
