What's in store?

Buying stuff is hopefully a fun part of boating. Be it that new down vest, clean fenders or new prop, it's supposed to be an enjoyable part of an enjoyable hobby. We do this because we love it don't we?

But the retail world generally is changing and I wonder what you are discovering when you go into a chandlery or buy a new bimini. Are you still shopping in a bricks and mortar store or are you shopping online? It once would take two hands to count the sailmakers here in Southern Ontario where sails were cut, sewn and lofted to order, but my dock neighbour just ordered his from an online supplier in Vancouver who likely had it made overseas in a large factory.

What are you doing for boat gear, services and supplies? Does your marina sell what you want and need? Or are you buying your deck shoes in the States and smuggling them back scuffed up? We'd love to hear from you: marine retail, canvas, engine repair, sails? Who do you rely on and what's the service level like?

Our email is CYonboard@kerrwil.com and put "shopping fun" in subject line please.
