They call it Canadian Yachting for a reason
There's a very good reason why Canada has it's own magazine. Boating here is just not the same as it is south of the border, or in Europe, or in Oz.
One of the most dramatic differences, of course, is the weather. The whole annual launch-in-the-spring-haul-in-the-fall challenge to sanity certainly doesn't happen in the Caribbean or Florida. And look at the spring that precedes the boating season, especially this year. Even on the Left Coast the weather has been ridiculous. Central Canada had a super-cold March and April has got off to the soggiest start. In the Atlantic - don't ask. Newfoundland is probably still digging out from late season blizzards.
It is a complete cliché to moan about Canadian weather, but hey, it's what we do. Welcome to summer. Soon. We hope.
