Hurricane Heartache

What devastation. Throughout the Caribbean, Irma has produced horrifying pictures of destruction, flooding and catastrophe.

For the boating community, it's been heartbreaking to see the wreckage on the sweet islands where we have visited to enjoy boats on the clear, turquoise waters. Places like Antigua and St Maarten have created visceral connections to many of us.

We leave it to the capable hands of the mass media to cover the hurricane news, but we'd like to share a note we got from one of our sailing friends, Pat Festing-Smith, a long time devotee of BVI, one of the areas most cruelly attacked by Irma. Pat wrote, "Trying my best to put some words together. It's very difficult and emotional." He generously shares his touching thoughts in the piece just below.
