Break out the picnic basket
The May 2-4 weekend was early this year, but it didn't disappoint, at least here in Ontario. Despite all the handwringing about the environment, despite the long cold winter, despite our stressful lives, the sun was out and the boat was in the water.
I saw finally happy people hauling stuff to the boat to get in every moment of it. It's a thing here in Canada: the weather sucks so much that every beautiful day gets top billing. Our picnic baskets are sitting by the door for months, then the moment the sun peeps out and the temp hits 20, it's full summer ahead.
I have never lived in Florida or San Diego, but I am confident that in those places, this first hit of nice weather is not such a big deal.
Enjoy it as a special, unique mixed blessing. We get to appreciate those infrequent MUCH more than those unlucky dullards who live where it's warm and sunny all year.
