Here comes the future
During the recent boat show season, we learned a couple of things. As you saw, there is a significant silver component to the crowd. Why? Clearly boats keep people young and active. But we knew that.
What we also saw was a strong trend upward in the sales of Bowriders, ski/board boats and other "starter" boats. This is great news - new owners are joining our ranks. Yes, smaller boats but they need to start somewhere and, of course, price tags do make a difference. The key takeaway is that our boating world is expanding.
Then, the best news of all - a note from Tara, a Grade 6 student in Vancouver who got excited about C&C boats during a family trip to the Maritimes. Her family doesn't own a boat - the passion is her own. Head to the CYOB Inbox to read how her interest evolved into a fascinating discussion with Rob Mazza, former C&C designer and now historian. We hope you'll enjoy it as much as we did.

Fire in the Port Sidney Marina
Sidney Fire Chief Brett Mikkelsen said crews were called to the Port Sidney Marina around 2:45 p.m. on Saturday February 9th, for reports of a boat on fire. "It was quite evident when we were responding from about a kilometre or two away that there was a large, black vertical column of smoke, so it was well, well underway," he said.

Boot Wrap Up
When it comes to boat shows, boot (With a lowercase 'b') in Dusseldorf, Germany offers a wide range of boats and equipment that are hard to locate on this side of the Atlantic. As such, it makes a great international destination for Canadian boaters, although it has yet to catch on in large numbers. I have included some photos from previous years to provide a sense of the scale of the show.

Connection to ground is also important in order to trigger protective mechanisms...
