MESSAGE FROM THE EDITOR
What we learn from mistakes
The United Nations has launched a global campaign to raise awareness of counterfeiting. We have already written twice about this since the beginning of the year. Counterfeit products represent a highly lucrative opportunity for criminals, but put the public at risk of injury or death and siphon revenue away from legitimate manufacturers and distributors. Our industry has taken a firm stance on the subject and positioned itself to use only products licensed by Canadian certification bodies. You've probably noticed as well the online electrical community's focus on best practices, standards and security. In this issue, our LED Q&A will help you avoid costly purchasing mistakes and maximize the value of your investment in LED lighting. Good reading!

Wind Power Is More Than Energy
This is the theme of the Quebec wind power industry's 8th conference and 4th gala, taking place this June in Gaspé, QC. One might add that this conference also takes place at the heart of our preconceptions. Unlike many European countries, where electricity generation by wind power is an important part of the energy supply, here, despite technological and commercial advances, it is still considered an alternative technology... not quite serious, perhaps serving primarily as an economic stimulus in remote areas. In Canada, we're left with the impression that the wind industry is not yet a competitive energy resource.
