Message From The Editor
The third and fourth generations have it
The history of Holley Electric, which you can read about in this issue's Profile section, spans four generations. I don't know how common generational continuity is in other industries, but that's certainly how it is with us as we welcome Julie Kerr to our editorial group. Julie is the granddaughter of Jack, the founder of Kerrwil Publications — where my career as an editor began — and the daughter of John, our publisher and an active member of the industry, with whom I have had the pleasure of working for many years. Julie is a communications and social media pro. While she began her career elsewhere, Julie was born into the electrical industry. We welcome her and are pleased that she shares our passion for the industry and Kerrwil's philosophy from the beginning: "We will be a member of the industry first and publisher second." Welcome Julie, and good reading!

Using Encircled Flux Compliant Light Sources For Testing Fibre Optic
International standards development organizations including ISO/IEC and ANSI/TIA are updating several key standards documents that affect field-testing of fibre optic cabling. In particular, the standards now describe the use of encircled flux compliant light sources. Encircled flux refers to the distribution of light exiting the launch fibre of a light source used for testing. The purpose of the standards is to ensure that different test systems from any manufacturer report the same loss for a given cable under test.

Complaint Handling and Online Reputation Defence for Contractors, Part 1
By Nick Gromicko

Investment in semi-detached dwellings declined year over year for the 15th consecutive month, down 3.4% to $233 million in July. At the provincial level, Ontario and British Columbia were the only provinces to record gains.
