The growing performance of green energy

When the topic of green energy comes up, we're now talking about trends and not an alternative technology. This reflects the importance assigned to these new sources of electrical power and distribution, as well as rising consumption and, above all, the evolution of new technologies and our view of the world of the future. Two examples in this issue: the electrification of transport and energy storage. Not only are they increasingly transforming green energy, but they are also redefining the daily life of tomorrow. Good reading!

State of Green Business

The Electrification of Everything

By Paul Carp and Elaine Hsieh
Green Business The expert consensus is broad: the most direct path toward a clean energy future is to replace technologies that still run on combustion — including gasoline vehicles and natural gas heating and cooling — with alternatives that run on electricity, such as electric vehicles and heat pumps, all tapping into renewable or low-carbon power sources. Call it the First Law of Decarbonization: everything that can be electrified, will be. Read More

Energy Storage

Energy Storage Charges Forward

By Heather Clancy
Energy Storage Use it or lose it. Few products in the world have a shorter shelf life than electricity. That's why pretty much everyone involved in the power sector — from utilities to buyers to start-ups to state regulators — is putting more energy than ever behind ways to extend it. That's fuelling a boom in projects and investments centred on advanced battery chemistries and alternative energy storage approaches, such as hydrogen fuel cells and thermal options that use hot water or ice to conserve power. The Holy Grail over time is to create a network of resources that can be used in concert with solar and wind farms. Read More

Britech Q. What do I need as far as standard accessories for a 100' long run of self regulating cable?

A. Fibreglass tape can be used for copper and steel pipe, aluminum tape for plastic pipes and special tape for stainless steel pipe that is approved for that use. Tie wraps are not to be used.
