Are there standards for business relationships?
Internet and online commerce have caused several changes to business processes. Faced with the potential threat presented by a virtual competitor — who would have all the answers (which of course is not the case), and is available 24/7 — are personal relationships with customers really the best way to keep this intruder from interfering in our business, especially our turnover? Friendships and good business relationships are two different things, and our contributor tells us how to prevent one from destroying the other. Also in this issue, finally an electrical standard for the power supply via Ethernet. All the details are explained. In addition, with this issue take advantage of our brand new format. It's fully compatible with all the functions of all mobile platforms. Good reading!

Common IEEE 802.3bt Questions Answered
By Ron Tellas
It's been a long time coming, but good news is here! IEEE 802.3bt — the 100W Power over Ethernet (PoE) standard — has been ratified and approved as a new standard. Now that it's a standard, we wanted to answer a few common questions about IEEE 802.3bt. For example, what will 802.3bt allow us to do? As the newest PoE standard, 802.3bt calls for two power variants: Type 3 (60W) and Type 4 (100W). This means that you can now carry close to 100W of electricity over a single cable to power devices like wireless access points, thermal cameras with PTZ features, LED lighting fixtures and large display screens (and the list goes on).

The Dreaded F-Word at Work: Five Reasons to Avoid The "Friend" Zone With Customers
By Jeff Mowatt
Conventional workplace wisdom espouses the virtue of employees being friendly with customers. While friendliness is a good thing, too often employees interpret it as encouragement to become their customer's friend. That's not such a good thing. The key question is what is the most appropriate and profitable employee/customer relationship? Having conducted customer service training seminars for hundreds of organizations over the years, I've come to the conclusion that there are five things every employee should consider as they develop relationships with internal and external customers.

Q & A Brought to You by Britech
I've meagered out the self-regulating cable and it is clear, but the breaker keeps tripping. How can I stop this?
Often the cable lengths can be too long and place too high a load on the breaker. Load and length charts from the manufacturer should always be consulted when sizing circuits. For instance, the manufacturers chart for a 5 watt per foot cable installed on a 20-amp 208-volt circuit may only allow for a 375-foot-long length of cable. If the cable exceeds 374 feet, it will trip the breaker.
