Value-added projects — a way to get there
Because a lighting project is no longer just a question of how many bulbs, dimmers and watts are needed to optimally illuminate a space, it may be necessary to hire a specialist who knows lighting standards, has related knowledge of physics, electrical standards and business, knows the various building codes, and can wrap everything in an aesthetic way, respect the architecture of the building, and focus on the needs of customers and end users. You have just read a non-exhaustive description of a lighting designer's job. Also in this issue, read how a combined expertise in lighting and electricity has enabled Toronto Lighting Supply to prosper. From April 6 to 9, we will be on site at the Hong Kong International Lighting Fair (Spring Edition), on the lookout for new products. We'll talk about it again. Good reading!

The family business of Desharnais Pneus et Mécanique has been a cornerstone of the Quebec region for over 70 years. Its main location occupies more than 85,000 sq.ft., making it the largest service centre of its kind in Quebec. When embarking on a $4 million renovation, the goal was to not only stand out from the competition but also create a space that truly reflected the company's corporate identity. Inside and out, the architectural features are warm and welcoming, descriptions not traditionally associated with a visit to a tire and car repair shop. For example, specific lighting zones were identified to control the ambiance of the waiting areas, café and customer service desks.
