    Appearing below are seven more examples of Canadian Electrical Code changes involving wiring devices and cable management, compiled by Legrand. This is the second of a three-article series on the 22 changes.

  • Now Might Be a Good Time to Remodel How and Why You Do Marketing
    Recently I presented a half-day marketing workshop titled, "Choosing and Targeting the Right Customers and Projects Types for Your Business." At the workshop I shared new ways contractors can think about and do their marketing so they can attract their desired customer and job types. It's what I call strategic marketing. For those of you who missed the workshop, here are some of the key points we discussed.

  • Intermatic — An Innovative Family Business Celebrating 125 Years
    Intermatic is a North American family-owned energy control company celebrating its 125th year in business. Founded in 1891, the firm serves commercial, industrial, institutional, and residential properties customers with a range of products spanning the electrical, HVACR and pool and spa markets. Offerings include time switches and controls, timers, power protection, surge protection devices, hour meters, sensors, weatherproof receptacle covers, professional lighting, consumer timers, and pool and spa controls.

  • New Housing Construction up 5% in May YOY
    The increase at the national level came mainly from higher investment in apartment and apartment-condominium building construction, up 17.2% year over year to $1.5 billion. Spending on row house construction also contributed to the advance, up 13.4% to $454 million. In contrast, investment in single-family dwellings was $2.0 billion, 2.6% lower than in May 2015, while spending on semi-detached dwelling construction declined 10.7% to $206 million.
