A lot about security in this issue
I'm listening right now to another report on cybersecurity. It is disconcerting that we all know the basic rules of cybersecurity but don't always put them into practice. Data are increasingly valuable and transmitted in many ways through wireless or wireless technologies, but data also show up on the dark web often because of our own negligence. Be vigilant, especially as summer vacations approach. In this issue, a reminder on how to support the talents of tomorrow, transmitting data through light, and more on safety. Have a good read!

Fibre Connectivity
Shutting the Door on Dust
By Mark Mullins
We know we talk a lot about fibre cleanliness, but let's face it, contamination of fibre endfaces is still the number one cause of failures — regardless of much we harp on the topic. You've probably often also heard comments surrounding the fact that dust caps are really just dust collectors. Thankfully, there are plenty of manufacturers out there that get it and have responded with shuttered fibre connectivity.

Supporting Next Generation Talent
By Michelle Branigan
With the electricity sector experiencing changes on so many fronts — technological, demographic, political — it is no surprise that the careers traditionally associated within the sector will also be affected. That's not to say that jobs will disappear overnight, but increasing digitalization will see some of the tasks associated within job classifications evolve. Some jobs will indeed become redundant, but others will emerge to take their place, and still others will merely be redefined. Rather than see this is a negative, it proves a wonderful opportunity to engage the next generation of talent, many of whom may not have thought of the sector as the most innovative and creative sector in which to kick-start their career.
