In the world of games, science, architecture and art, infrastructure, and networks, the lighting profession continues to diversify, and markets are heading in directions that I would venture to describe as yet unimagined. Lighting Work and Play at Ubisoft Quebec City

Ubisoft's 400 video game creators located in Quebec City have been settling in to their new workspaces since last May. An ambitious relocation project, the design of this new studio was done in an integrated way under the direction of the firm Coarchitecture, mandated by Ubisoft Quebec for this architectural challenge. The lighting of these new spaces, designed to encourage creative projects, was at the heart of the conception, and LumiGroup's expertise was called upon to achieve all of the project's objectives, including the importance of creating an efficient, dynamic, and inspiring living environment, representative of Ubisoft's DNA.

Lighting Systems — An Introduction to ANSI C137.1

The recently formed ANSI C137 Lighting Systems Committee created a working group to develop a standard for a zero-to-10 volt analog interface between dimmable LED drivers, fluorescent ballasts and dimming controls. At present, there is no widely accepted industry standard for analog dimming of LED sources. The new standard, C137.1, will enhance interoperability of drivers and dimming controls and improve the uniformity of output of multiple drivers operating on the same control circuit. It also adds several new features.

LED Stimulation: A New Treatment For Alzheimer's?

Using LED lights flickering at a specific frequency, MIT researchers have shown that they can substantially reduce the beta amyloid plaques seen in Alzheimer's disease, in the visual cortex of mice. This treatment appears to work by inducing brain waves known as gamma oscillations, which the researchers discovered help the brain suppress beta amyloid production and invigorate cells responsible for destroying the plaques.
