The savings are serious, but there's more — the magic of the stars
Energy savings are important with LEDs. In fact, we talk a lot about savings in the context of LED lighting, but equally important is protecting nocturnal biodiversity, the quality of our sleep, and public safety. We need a cultural shift so that we stop seeing lighting with the eyes of yesteryear: LED technologies are designed to illuminate better, not more. Training plays a key role in this culture shift. In this issue we talk about energy savings, but also the magic of lighting. This is what's behind achievements that have enhanced Montreal's reputation around the world. Montreal is increasingly recognized as a city of design, and lighting is at the heart of this recognition. This fall, Pierre-Yves Panis, head of design for Philips Lighting, was one of the leading speakers at an international design conference. In January we will share with you his reflections on the links between technology, design, science, and art. Good reading!
